Blue Moon Promise

About the Book:

A love like Lucy and Nate’s only comes along once in a blue moon . . .

Lucy Marsh's worldly resources are running out, but she's fiercely determined to care for her younger brother and sister. When she discovers that their father's recent death was no accident, Lucy is eager to leave town. She accepts a proxy marriage she believes will provide safe refuge. But trouble follows her to Texas where her new husband is surprised to suddenly have a wife and children to care for.

Nate Stanton always hoped he'd marry someday, but running the family ranch meant he had no time for romance. When his father deposits Lucy Marsh—a city girl—on his doorstep, with two siblings in the bargain, he expects ranch life will send her running on the first train out of town. But Lucy is made of tougher stuff than Nate imagined. When danger moves in, Nate finds he'd give anything to protect Lucy and the children he's grown to love. Even if it means giving up his ranch.

My Thoughts:

After reading The Light Keepers Ball, I was thrilled to read Blue Moon Promise.  I love Collen's writing, characters and imaginative direction. This new novel is book one in her new series, "Under Texas Stars", the main character, Lucy is a character who reveals a little about the author while maintaining a natural personality and easy to relate to characteristics.  I instantly connected with Lucy.  She was in a place in her life where the rain kept falling and she only wanted to see some sunshine.  When one bad thing after another takes place, Lucy is overwhelmed, as anyone would be.  Considering it all, it was no surprise that Lucy took a life changing offer of marriage to ease her troubled mind.  When she arrives at Nate's ranch, she has a whole new host of trials to overcome, including proving herself to her new and unsuspecting husband.

I felt for Lucy.  She seemed to feel the need to prove herself to everyone instead of letting go and letting God provide.  Lucy is a character that has a lot of characteristics and sometimes flaws that plague most women by nature.  I enjoyed reading this relaxing story as I watched Nate and Lucy's lives unfold.  It has a bit of everything including mystery, romance, history and suspense.  The story is one of hope and new beginnings.

The idea of a proxy marriage is much like an arranged marriage and definitely gave this story a unique edge and intrigue.  I enjoyed watching Nate grow to love Lucy and her siblings, much like Lucy grows to love Nate.  The storyline behind the romance kept me on my toes.  The two characters had much in common that brings them closer together.  It was well written and easy to read.
